Mixing: Raw materials are combined in the granulating equipment to create a homogeneous mixture.
Wetting: A liquid is added to the mixture to create a wet mass, which is necessary for the granulation process.
Granulation: The wet mass is subjected to mechanical, thermal, or chemical processes to break down the raw materials into smaller particles and form uniform granules. For example, in a fluid bed granulator, air is used to fluidize the wet mass and create uniform granules. In a high shear mixer, high-speed rotating blades are used to break down the raw materials into smaller particles.
Drying: The newly formed granules are dried to remove any residual moisture.
Sizing: The dried granules are screened to remove any over- or under-sized particles and ensure a uniform size distribution.
